Synopsis
Sometime between the distant future and the not-too-distant past, something implausible occurs. A megathrust earthquake thunders across the Indian Ocean and an enormous chasm opens between shifting plates. Thankfully, the highly esteemed and frequently dauntless, Mortcombe-Exeter Institute (located in England) has eyes everywhere and spots ruins in these shifted plates. For millennia the possibility of a Lost Civilization beneath the Indian Ocean has been theorized. Kumari Nadu, Lemuria, Mauritia. The Institute has sought this civilization since its own founding. For so long it’s been a myth; today it’s reality.
Far off the coast of Mauritius, three vessels weigh anchor. The CS Arktos, DSV Brizo, and HMS Kleio. Aboard Arktos is the team of historians, scientists, and linguists that have been sent by the Mortcombe-Exeter Institute to find the Lost City. The team is small, but the Institute’s best: our protagonist, Molly Lancaster—Head Historical Researcher, Captain (just Captain), Jonas Teuling—Linguist, Dr. Theodore “Teddy” Weber, and Dr. Henrietta “Beaker” Wolf. The crew’s story unfolds through transcripts and records of their mission as reported by Lancaster.
